What is Non-Striving?

July 15, 2022

So, you might notice when you are in formal meditation that you have this goal of wanting to feel more relaxed, or you have this goal to have a quiet mind. However, what we find (at times) is that meditating can sometimes bring up feelings of agitation, or discomfort. We might also find that our minds are very busy with thoughts from the past and the future and when this happens, we can feel like we are doing something wrong. In today’s video, I want to share a bit about how the perspective of non-striving may be helpful in supporting you when meditating so that you can begin to release the grip you might have on a particular outcome and just be present to whatever is showing up. When we invite in the perspective of non-striving, we allow for whatever shows up in the meditation to be just that, without a desire for a specific outcome and this can feel freeing.
